Lived Experience Volunteers: Women’s Voices in Community
This volunteer programme is engaging women with lived experience across the following areas:

- Domestic violence and coercion;
- Homelessness;
- Refugees;
- Lived experience within the justice system;
- All other groups that are silenced.
Creating a voice for the unheard.
We engage with volunteers from all walks of life, and for this programme, we are looking to impact those with lived experience.
The aim of this project is to help community voices be heard and supported. For example, within the prison system, 65% of women have experienced domestic violence and coercion.
Women refugees in our community are sometimes hidden due to family commitments, language barriers, or lack of opportunities.
We work with this important group of women – those hidden in prison, on our streets, and refugees who aren’t working or in education – to provide support that helps them progress.
Targets of the Programme
- Rebuild self-esteem and self-belief after trauma and displacement.
- Recognise their individual value and unique potential.
- Create a hopeful, practical vision for their life;
- Build dignity and empowerment linked to choice.
